In October 2009, five members of Capita Specialist Insurance Solutions Ltd volunteered to help transform the garden of Little Stoke Primary School, Bristol. The group worked hard, digging up an overgrown garden bed to make it suitable to lay a sandpit within, as well as clearing vegetation in the garden beds surrounding it.

Tony Page, managing director of Capita Specialist Insurance Services, said: “Through our BEST brand we work closely with a number of schools in the Bristol area. However, we don’t want our relationship to be a purely business one and staff are always keen to get involved in volunteering work. One of our staff members sends her children to Little Stoke Primary School and had heard that the school required volunteers to do some gardening, so we got a team together which went down to the school. The team thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we hope the children of this school will be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour for a long time to come.”
Nicky Green, reception teacher at Little Stoke Primary School, said: “The team from Capita responded quickly to our plea for help developing our outdoor play facilities. They prepared the site for our new outdoor sand pit and tidied our reception class’ raised beds ready for planting. We are extremely grateful for the time they freely put into this project and for the hours of fun that the children will have as a result of their efforts.”
