The Birmingham Bursars’ Group (BBG) was formed at a meeting late in 1999, to provide a local support group for Bursars who can feel isolated and alone in their own school environment. The group meet on a termly basis at a central venue and invite a series of Speakers from the Educational Financial Sector to update the group on the issues of the day. Meetings also provide wonderful opportunities for members to meet and network with like minded colleagues, to support and help each other.
Group membership has grown steadily each year from an initial fifty members to BBG current numbers which are well in excess of two hundred helped in recent times by the launch in 2008 of their own group website. They are now the largest Bursar group in the country apart from the National Association. The BBG attract considerable interest from exhibitors keen to attend our regular meetings and from website sponsors and in 2010 are holding our first full Conference.
BEST sponsored and attended our first Birmingham Bursars’ Group meeting in February 2010. Following this we also started to sponsor the group’s website and online forum. We hope to develop our relationship with BBG so that we can offer insurance solutions to their members with a focus on their local needs.
